Every engineering aspirant is refreshing one page right now: the NTA portal. JEE Main 2027 registration for Session 1 is expected to open in the last week of October or early November, but as per reports from mid-October the official notification had not been released yet. The exam itself is already fixed for January, so the smart move is to get your documents ready now and apply the day the form goes live.

Who Can Apply?
Eligibility is announced in the official bulletin, so wait for the 2027 notice before finalising your plan. In earlier years, students who passed Class 12 in the previous two years or were appearing in the current year could apply. Admission to NITs and similar institutes usually carries a Class 12 marks requirement, so check the JoSAA rules at josaa.nic.in as well.
Documents to Keep Ready
- Class 10 certificate or mark sheet as proof of date of birth
- Recent passport-size photograph and signature in the prescribed size
- Category or PwD certificate, if applicable
- Valid mobile number and email ID that you can access for months
- Photo ID such as Aadhaar
Mismatched names or dates of birth are a common reason for later problems, so compare every detail with your school records.
How to Apply for JEE Main 2027 (Expected Steps)
- Open the official portal at jeemain.nta.nic.in once NTA activates the link.
- Register with your basic details to get an application number.
- Fill the application form with personal, academic and exam-centre details.
- Upload your photo, signature and certificates.
- Pay the fee online through the options provided.
- Submit and download the confirmation page, then print a copy.
Application Fee
The fee depends on your category, gender and whether your exam centre is in India or abroad. It is charged per session and is non-refundable. The 2027 amount will appear in the information bulletin and is expected to be close to the 2026 fee, but wait for the official figure.
Two Sessions, One Better Score
You can appear in both sessions. NTA considers the better of your two scores for the final result, so Session 2 is a genuine chance to improve. For Session 2, reuse your Session 1 login and pay only the fee for the new session.
Exam Pattern in Brief
Paper 1 for B.E. and B.Tech covers Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with multiple-choice and numerical-value questions. Since 2025, all questions are compulsory with no optional choices, and no pattern change has been announced for 2027. Exams run in two shifts a day, usually from 9 AM to 12 PM and 3 PM to 6 PM.
